You’ve definitly heard of Microneedling, but do you know just how beneficial this treatment can be for the appearance of your skin?
From the age of 30 onwards we loose 1% of our collagen every year. Microneedling stimulates the
body to reproduce collagen naturally; no chemicals are used or injected into the face! It is a fantastic, holistic way to improve the quality & appearance of your skin.
The premise behind Micro-Needling (also known as Collagen Induction Therapy), is to stimulate the production of new collagen, using our skin’s ability to heal itself. The tiny needles used in skin Micro-Needling make microscopic channels in the dermis, triggering the body’s healing response. The micro channels also allow for increased absorption of topical solutions which we use during and after the procedure. This stimulates production of new collagen and elastin, so your skin plumps up, looking refreshed and radiant.
After the procedure your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin, working below the surface in the dermis. This takes time as new collagen is formed, new skin cells are generated and blood supply is enhanced. It can take up to 6 weeks before visible signs of regeneration and repair are seen and the process will continue over the following months, providing you with a natural and long lasting enhancement.
A single treatment can produce noticeable results, however a course of 4–6 treatments spaced is recommended to achieve optimum results, in conjunction with a home skincare regime.
The theory of Medical Micro Needling is rooted in its ability to promote one of the skins natural functions which is collagen and elastin synthesis. This is achieved by introducing a series of very fine, sharp needles into the; the skin responds by stimulating the production of new collagen & elastin. As a result the skin becomes thicker, plumper and more youthful.
Microneedling is effective in treating post acne scarring, stretch marks and fine lines & wrinkles in a safe and gentle way. It is also effective for treating a host of other effects, including:
– Wrinkle Reduction
– Stretch Marks
– Cellulite Reduction
– Acne & Chickenpox
– Aging & Sagging Skin
– Open Pores
Will it hurt?
30 minutes before treatment, an anaesthetic cream is applied to the area to be treated. This has a temporary numbing effect on the skin and makes the treatment comfortable.
Are there any side effects?
Immediately after your treatment you can look like you have moderate to severe sunburn (redness) and your skin may feel tighter than usual. This will start to subside after a couple of hours and you will normally recover within the same day with a slight redness the following day (exceptionally there may be some redness for up to 4 days).
How long does the treatment take?
30 minutes for the anaesthetic cream to work and approx 15—30 minutes for the treatment depending on the extent of the area.
When can I resume my normal daily activities?
As soon as you feel comfortable to do so. Your skin should not feel sore or painful so its a matter of how quickly the redness subsides and how much that bothers you. You can expect to be back to normal within 24—48 hours but some reactions can take up to 4 days to completely vanish.
Can I wear make-up after treatment?
It is not advisable to wear make-up for at least 12 hours after treatment.
